FEDERATION OF CANADIAN MUNICIPALITIES CEO IN HALIFAX TO MEET WITH MAYOR KELLY AND HALIFAX COUNCIL

 

OTTAWA, May 4, 2010 – The Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) CEO Brock Carlton will be available to the media after his meeting tonight with Mayor Peter Kelly and other municipal leaders in Halifax.

 

Mr. Carlton is in Halifax to learn about local challenges and opportunities and to talk about the future of federal investments in cities and communities as the Government of Canada sets out to eliminate its budget deficit. He will also brief municipal leaders on the effect of costly new federal wastewater regulations on local governments and their property taxpayers.

Halifax is the last stop in a three-day tour of municipalities in Nova Scotia that includes visits to Lunenberg, Region of Queens and Annapolis County.

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has been the national voice of municipal government since 1901.
