Halifax North Common Electrical Building Construction

(Wednesday, May 19, 2010) - Beginning today, the Halifax Regional Municipality will be carrying out construction work on the Halifax North Common near the corner of Cogswell Street and North Park Street. This is the first phase of the North Common park improvements approved by Council earlier this year.

The work means permanent power for special events such as concerts and the Canada Games Long Track Skating Oval and involves the construction of a small building to house electrical equipment. Power will be brought to the site, underground, from the median on Cogswell Street.
Work will be carried out over a nine-week period and is expected to be completed mid-July 2010.

HRM will work to minimize the impact of construction in this busy area. However, during the course of construction, parking on the westbound side of Cogswell Street will be restricted and a portion of the public sidewalk on the north side of Cogswell Street will be closed. As the work progresses, there will be lane closures on Cogswell Street. Additional announcements will be issued about the closures once the dates have been determined.
