Immediate Ban on Open Air Burning

(Tuesday, June 15, 2010) - Halifax Fire and Emergency has issued an immediate ban on open air burning in all areas of HRM.  All Department of Natural Resources and HRM burning permits for areas within the municipality are cancelled at this time.

Today we are experiencing hazardous weather conditions, which are forecast to continue.  We have had two serious brush fires today.  As a result, HRFE is implementing an immediate ban on open burning. No open fires are permitted.

This ban does not include approved outdoor wood burning appliances.

The ban will remain in place until further notice.

For information, contact HRFE Fire Prevention services by telephone at 490-5546.
