Media Tour of Canada Games Centre

(Tuesday, June 22, 2009) - Media are invited to join Mayor Peter Kelly, area Councillors, Canada Games CEO Chris Morrissey, Canada Games Centre General Manager Gary Furlong and project staff on a tour of the Canada Games Centre this Friday, June 25.

A state-of-the-art, 176,000-square-foot multipurpose athletic complex, the Centre will be the premier infrastructure legacy of the Games. The centre is home to three full-sized gymnasiums, a 200-metre indoor track, 25-metre, eight-lane competitive pool, leisure pool and hydrotherapy pool, toddler pool, fitness centre, community centre, youth centre and spaces for community programs.

During the Games, February 11-27, 2011, the Centre will play host to artistic gymnastics, badminton and synchronized swimming.
Please note: This is still a construction site. Anyone who is taking part in the tour is required to wear CSA-approved steel-toed shoes, a hard hat and safety glasses. There are some hard hats and safety glasses available on site.
