RCMP RESPOND TO DROWNING NEAR BAYSIDE, NS
Saturday, September 4, 2010 Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), N.S.... Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Halifax District are on the scene of a drowning in Blind Bay near Bayside, Nova Scotia.
Shortly after 2:30 PM, RCMP responded to a call regarding an adult male who had been pulled from the water. When police arrived on scene, the man was unresponsive. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. Earlier in the day, a boat had come loose from its mooring. The man and another male went out to secure the vessel. The incident happened when the man was attempting to swim back to shore.
The victim has been identified as 56-year old Johnny Mitchell Jr. from Bayside, Nova Scotia.
