Blasting - North Dartmouth Trunk Sewer Project

(Tuesday, September 28, 2010) - On Friday, October 1, blasting operations will continue for completion of rock excavation at North Dartmouth Trunk Sewer project, on the west side of Hwy 118 beginning at Wright Avenue to the Highway 107 Bypass/Burnside Ramp from Hwy 118. ACL Construction Ltd has obtained a permit to carry out the blasting.

Blasting will continue for the next two weeks during the hours of 9:00 and 11:00 am and 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Please note that blasting will not take place on the weekends or holidays. The current plan for blasting will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays however this work may not be limited to just these two days during the upcoming weeks.

During the time that blasting is occurring, Police will be in place to hold traffic.

All requirements outlined in the blasting by-law have been met in order to have a permit issued for this project. Seismographs will be set up on structures in the area to monitor vibration and sound levels to ensure they do not exceed allowable limits set out in HRM's blasting by-law.

Motorists should expect delays and are requested to find alternate routes.

HRM apologizes in advance for any inconvenience these delays may cause, and will notify the public about the completion of the project - with details around dates and times of future blasting - as soon as that information becomes available.
