HRM Hosts National Safe Communities Canada Day -October 6th

(Wednesday, September 29, 2010) - Halifax Regional Municipality’s Safe Communities will host the 4th National Safe Communities Canada Day on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the East Dartmouth Community Centre.

This year’s theme is “Be Visible” and all HRM Councillors have been asked to do something in their communities to “Be Visible”. For example Councillor Nicoll from Cole Harbour will be asking everyone in her community to cross safely only at intersections.

The East Dartmouth Community Centre will host a café style event from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. where three organizations will talk about work, child and senior safety.

Safe Communities Canada Day celebrates community achievement in injury prevention and safety promotion, and honours individual volunteers and business partners who have made a difference in designated safe communities.
