HRM Staff Pick up Tools and Paint Brushes for United Way
(Wednesday, October 6, 2010) - In what’s become an annual campaign, hundreds of HRM staff are coming together to support the good work United Way does in our communities.
Last year, HRM staff raised $135,000 for community causes and hope to top that number this year through a variety of initiatives, including a silent auction, ticket draws, and automatic payday donations.
Staff are also volunteering for during a Day of Caring, taking place Wednesday, October 6. Under the volunteer program - also part of the United Way campaign - HRM staff will do repair and upkeep work on two properties.
At St. George's YouthNet, located at 2221 Maitland St, Halifax, staff will be painting a kitchen, weatherizing windows, doing outdoor gardening to prepare for winter, and rebuilding a side set of stairs. At the Canadian Mental Health Centre at the Bloomfield Centre, 2786 Agricola St., staff will be painting.
HRM has been supporting United Way campaigns for 30 years, and is happy to be involved in giving back to the community through this annual campaign.
