ATLANTIC MAYORS’ CONGRESS TO MEET IN SAINT JOHN, NB, NOV. 3-5, 2010
Halifax, November 1, 2010 -- Mayors from Atlantic Canada’s largest municipalities will meet in Saint John, NB, Nov. 3-5.
The mayors, members of the Atlantic Mayors’ Congress, will discuss pressing issues facing their communities, including needed support for Atlantic ferries, the effect of new federal waste water regulations on local property taxpayers, and the status of federal infrastructure programs.
On Wednesday afternoon, the mayors are hosting a special meeting to hear from a number of organizations concerned by the state of ferry service in Atlantic Canada. This meeting will be open to media. Meeting co-chairs Saint John Mayor Ivan Court and Halifax Mayor Peter Kelly will be available to media following the meeting.
The mayors will also issue a wrap-up news release on Friday November 5th, at the conclusion of their meetings.
