Regional Council Requests Further Independent Study on Science of Biosolids

(Nov. 16, 2010) HRM Regional Council today (Nov. 16) asked to defer any further decisions on the use of applications of biosolids by the municipality until they receive further information.

Under an amended motion, HRM Council has asked Halifax Water to look further into issues around biosolid use by HRM through the engagement of an independent study of scientific principles on use of the material.

Halifax Water must first request to move forward on the motion through its board of directors and will then seek out a qualified, independent, third-party to carry out the study and respond to the questions as raised in Council debate.
