Metro Transit SERVICE UPDATE - DEC. 6, 2010

(Monday, December 6, 2010) Halifax, NS - Metro Transit bus and ferry services have been affected this morning by inclement weather conditions. The following is an update on current service disruptions and detours:

Ferries: The Alderney Ferry has resumed regular service, with the first trip departing Dartmouth at 10:30 am. The Woodside Ferry will resume regular service this afternoon as scheduled.

Bus Detours: The MacKay Bridge has been closed to high sided vehicles until further notice. This affects two bus routes, the #16 Parkland and the #185 Sackville Link. Both routes will be detoured via the Macdonald Bridge until further notice as follows:

- Route #16 Parkland will detour from Highfield Terminal, left on Victoria Rd., right onto Nantucket Ave., travel across the Macdonald Bridge, right onto Gottingen St., left onto Young St., right onto Robie St., continue to Massachusetts Ave., through the Windsor Street Exchange to the Bedford Highway, and resume regular routing. Reverse routing to Dartmouth and Highfield Terminal.

- MetroLink Route #185 Sackville which usually travels the MacKay Bridge, will be re-routed to the Macdonald Bridge for the duration of this closure. No bus stops will be affected.

Passengers will be advised when the MacKay Bridge is reopened. Minimal service delays should be expected along affected routes.
