HRM Snow Event Clearing Update

(Tuesday, February 8, 2011) To stay on top of the snow clearing needed today (Feb 8), HRM Winter Works crews have been out since 7 am on the P1 streets. Contracted forces will be brought in as conditions warrant.

The current forecast indicates the bulk of the snowfall should end by 2 am, with an additional 5 cms in flurries expected to fall until 8 am.

P2 street clearing and push operations are tentatively scheduled to begin overnight (more detail in the afternoon update).

Sidewalk operations are now underway in the Capital district areas and full operations will begin this evening.

Capital District snow removal operations, as previously scheduled, will be postponed for the next two nights while crews deal with new snowfall and bus stop clearing operations over that same time.

A new schedule will be posted to the web later today for snow removal plans and another update will be posted at 3:30 pm at www.halifax.ca/snow/ .
