HRM Calls for Volunteers to Serve on Stadium Steering Committee

(February 16, 2011) - Do you have an interest in HRM’s call for further study on a potential stadium for the region? HRM has issued a call for volunteers to serve on its Stadium Business Planning and Analysis Steering Committee.

A total of five residents will be chosen to join the remainder of the committee who represent Regional Council, as well as the sport, recreation and business communities.

The primary role for the committee, once formed, will be to:
- Provide advice and direction to a staff technical team;
- Develop and make recommendations to Council on a stadium business plan, operational plan, site selection, ownership model, facility design and construction methodology relative to achieving the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup minimum standards; and
- Serve as the public face of the project from a communications’ perspective in the community, media, etc.

If interested, please submit a letter of interest including any background knowledge and reasons for interest in the steering committee’s primary focus. The expression of interest should be directed to the HRM Clerk at clerks@halifax.ca or by fax at 490-4208.

The letter should be received no later than 4 pm February 21, 2011.
