Coast To Coast Canada Day Celebration Line-up Announced

(April 7, 2011) - A line-up of artists from across the country will perform at this year’s Canada Day Celebrations at Alderney Landing. National headliners The Trews will be joined by The Stanfields and Vancouver's Hey Ocean! The event is free to the public and marks Canada’s 144th birthday.

"As the largest Canada Day celebration east of Ottawa, it’s fitting that we mark the occasion with bands of this high calibre,” says Jeff Wall, Chair of Halifax-Dartmouth Canada Day. "Atlantic Canadians choose Halifax as a celebration destination on July 1st, so we feel it's important to treat them to a show they won’t soon forget.”

The Halifax-Dartmouth Canada Day event draws 150,000 people and concludes with a spectacular fireworks show over Halifax Harbour. Free pancake breakfasts, opening ceremonies at Citadel Hill, the Tattoo parade and the largest free family event of the year at the Halifax Commons make this event accessible and entertaining for the whole family.

The Trews will be featuring music from their new album Hope & Ruin along with their Juno nominated catalogue of hits. Visit hrmcanadaday.ca for more information including event locations and schedules.

Halifax-Dartmouth Canada Day is brought to you by The Village Shops at Dartmouth Crossing, Molson Canadian, Canadian Heritage, Pepsi, Hampton Inn & Suites, RIM, C100/The Bounce, CTV, The Chronicle Herald and the Halifax Regional Municipality.
