Federal Election Candidates Reminded About Sign Placement

(April 7, 2011)-- HRM is reminding all candidates running in the federal election campaign that campaign signs should be restricted to private property (with the permission of the property owner) and should not be installed within the municipal street right-of-way.

Signs must not obstruct the view of traffic at intersections and driveways or be posted on utility poles or municipal trees. All election signs should be removed within one week following the federal election on May 2, 2011.

If any signs do pose a safety hazard, they will be removed by HRM at the cost of the candidate.

For further information, contact HRM Right-of-Way Services at 490-6240.
