Universal Accessibility Study – 2nd set of Public Consultation Sessions

 

(Thursday, May 19, 2011) - Metro Transit and IBI Group will conduct four additional Public Consultation Sessions as a follow up to the initial Universal Accessibility Study information meetings, which were held in early
March 2011.

Metro Transit is looking for customer input regarding recommendations to a number of accessibility-related issues around conventional bus service, including existing infrastructure (vehicles, terminals, bus stops, shelters, etc.), on-board wheelchair/scooter restraint systems, customer communication  and information (website, schedules, & maps), as well as transit guidelines and policies.

Once completed, short and long-term accessibility improvement recommendations to the fixed route transit service will be developed and presented to Regional Council for review and approval in spring/summer 2011.

Wednesday, May 25 –
Saint Andrews Community Centre
6955 Bayers Rd., Halifax
Afternoon session: from 4pm to 5:30pm

Evening session: from 6pm to 7:30pm

 

Thursday, May 26 –
Dartmouth North Community Centre

105 Highfield Park Dr., Dartmouth
Afternoon session: from 4pm to 5:30pm
Evening session: from 6pm to 7:30pm

 

The sessions will consist of a 10-15 minute presentation, followed by a question & answer period.

 

For registered Access-A-Bus clients wishing to attend, contact the AAB Scheduling Department at 490-6999.

 

For those travelling on conventional fixed route transit service, the Saint Andrews Community Centre is serviced by routes #2, #17(ALF), #80, and #81.

 

The Dartmouth North Community Centre is serviced by ALF routes #16, #52, #53, #66, #72, #87, and non-ALF route #64.
