Public Workshops: Social Heritage Strategy Development
(Tuesday, June 14, 2011) - HRM is inviting residents to participate in one of four upcoming workshops designed to engage citizens in the the development of HRM’s first Social Heritage Strategy. The Strategy will help shape HRM policy and programs regarding heritage assets, social history, natural history, and cultural heritage throughout our region.
The public workshops are taking place:
Saturday, June 18, 1:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Bloomfield Centre, Multipurpose Room

Monday, June 20, 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Dartmouth Sportsplex, Nantucket Room
110 Wyse Road, Dartmouth
Wednesday, June 22, 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
LeBrun Centre, Lion’s Den Room
36 Holland Drive, Bedford
Saturday, June 25, 1:30 pm - 4 p.m.
Memory Lane Heritage Village, Clam Factory
5435 Clam Harbour Road, Lake Charlotte
Public input will be used to develop the strategy and inform recommendation to Council. This process will not result in changes to heritage regulation.

Social heritage refers to the history and cultural identities of people in a particular region. It includes physical elements such as monuments, documents, and artefacts. It also includes oral traditions, customs, folklore, languages, music, dance, celebrations, and special skills.
