WINTERSLEEP AND STEVEN PAGE TO HEADLINE FREE NATAL DAY CONCERTS
(June 21, 2011) - There’s only one thing better than two great concerts, and that’s two great FREE concerts during the 2011 Alexander Keith’s Natal Day Festivities! The annual five day festival, marking Halifax and Dartmouth’s civic birthday celebration, promises to feature some of Canada’s finest bands rocking the Event Plaza at Alderney Landing on the Dartmouth Waterfront.
On Saturday, July 30th, recording artists Wintersleep will be in the spotlight.
Then on Sunday July 31st, Steven Page (former lead singer for the Barenaked Ladies) will headline.
Juno award winning group, Wintersleep, is one of the most exciting rock bands to come out of Halifax. The band has had a very successful year following the release of their fourth album, “New Inheritors”, in 2010, and an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman™ earlier this year.
Performing as part of the Saturday lineup along with headliners Wintersleep, will be Route 104 Showcase Artists: Jay Smith, The Stogies, Alert the Medic, Town Heroes and Gloryhound. The highly anticipated Natal Day Fireworks will also take place on July 30th, and will be fired from the span of the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge.
Steven Page has written multiple hits including, “The Old Apartment” and “Brian Wilson”, and co-wrote, “If I Had a Million Dollars”. Page has won numerous Juno Awards and has also been nominated for Grammy Awards. Steven Page has released three albums since launching his solo career in 2009, including his latest, “Page One”. Steven Page will be joined on July 31st, by Old Man Luedecke and Carmen Townsend.
