Welcome Barbeque for Residents and Newcomers

(Thursday, July 14, 2011) - Residents and Newcomers are invited to the 6th Annual Welcome Barbeque this Saturday, July 16th at the Halifax South Commons. This multicultural gathering is open to all and is meant to welcome Newcomers to the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Enjoy an afternoon of fun, food and festivities, including performances by Samba Nova, and Concrete Roots. Other activities include pick up soccer, Zumba, face painting, reading and art tents for kids and much more. There will also be free hot dogs, corn and cake, while supplies last. Residents are encouraged to bring their own plates and utensils to help reduce waste.

Date:    Saturday July 16, 2011 (rain or shine)
Time:    11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Place:   Halifax Commons (near the playground)

This year's event is sponsored by Halifax Regional Municipality, Greater Halifax Partnership, YMCA, Carpenter Millwright Trades College, Immigrant Settlement and Integration Services,(ISIS) Immigration Francophone Nouvelle Ecosse, Multicultural Association of Nova Scotia, Royal Seniors Club, AWEDA, Frontier College, African Diaspora Association of the Maritimes, Fusion, HRM Recreation, HRM Fire Services, and Metro Transit.
