Birch Cove Beach Will Reopen on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Friday, July 15, 2011 – HRM would like to advise residents that Birch Cove Beach will reopen for swimming at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning.

HRM performed three consecutive water quality tests for E.coli bacteria at the beach this week and all three have shown levels are within the normal range.

The investigation carried out by Public Health Services found no evidence to suggest an ongoing threat to the public's health. It was also verified through Halifax Water that there were no overflows from the wastewater pumping station servicing the area.

Based on these findings, Public Health Services supports HRM’s decision to reopen the beach.
