HRM Issues Call for Open Projects Program

(July 21, 2011) - The deadline for the next call for Open Projects is Friday, August 19, 2011. The Open Projects program supports artists’ projects that reimagine, remake and reinvigorate civic spaces and support outcomes including a sustainable cultural industry, a culture-based regional economy and culturally rich, engaged, active citizenry.

An information session is planned for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Hub, 1673 Barrington Street, 2nd Floor, Halifax.

For the 2011-2012 fiscal year there are two calls for the Open Projects program. Projects are peer-assessed by a committee of artists from diverse disciplines. Support through Open Projects is available at three different brackets: $500-$2000, $2000-$5000, and $5000-$8000.

The first call resulted in $22,250 awarded to five artists: Dustin Harvey, William Robinson, Zachary Gough, Lisa Lipton and Kat Shubaly. Project descriptions can be found at www.halifax.ca/Culture/PublicArt/openprojects.html.
