Site Specific Project by Kat Shubaly in Victoria Park

Thursday, August 11, 2011 - The Halifax Regional Municipality is pleased to present The One Night Stand Pop-up Gallery, a transportable, outdoor gallery, with the purpose of engaging public space as a venue for displaying all forms of art curated by Kat Shubaly. This project is supported through HRM Cultural Affairs’ Open Projects program.

This week's pop-up gallery takes place Friday, August 12, 9-10:30 p.m. in Victoria Park, corner of Spring Garden and South Park. It features a live musical performance from local up-and-coming bands Old & Weird, Special Costello and Dream Friends.

This is the first of four pop-up galleries designed to exhibit a variety of art forms and to challenge the use of outdoor, urban space as a venue. Keep an eye out in the following weeks around the city for the rest of the galleries which will include visual art, performance art, music and film. Featured artists include Katie Roux, Maddy Matthews, Natasha Klimenko, Carolyn Hirtle, Danika Vandersteen, Iain Soder, Special Costello, Dream Friends, Old and Weird, Leah Ostry, Ardith Burchill, Charlie Tyrell, Adrian Lee and Michael Fraiman.
