Traffic Advisory - Stanley Cup Visits Downtown Halifax

(August 26, 2011) - On Monday, August 29th, Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins will share the Stanley Cup with Halifax residents in a parade through the downtown.

The parade will result in rolling detours from noon to 1 p.m. along the parade route - beginning at Summer and University, proceeding left onto South Park, right onto Sackville, left onto Brunswick, right onto Duke and right onto Argyle. At Grand Parade there will be a 20 minute event on stage.

Motorists should expect minor delays during this time to accommodate the parade. Parking along the route will be suspended for Monday morning. Signage advising motorists of the parking restrictions will be posted on meters beginning today. Regular street parking will resume immediately after the parade has passed.

Metro Transit will offer extended service on route 330 MetroX Tantallon on Monday, August 29, to accommodate those wishing to attend the Stanley Cup parade in downtown Halifax and the community event being held at St. Margaret's Centre in Upper Tantallon. Additional trips will be provided as follows:

Route 330 MetroX Tantallon:
From Albemarle St. to Tantallon - 1:00, 1:15, 1:30, 2:00 PM
From Tantallon to Albemarle St. - 4:00, 4:10, 4:20, 4:30, 4:55, 5:05 PM
