Hopscotch 2011 to Launch in Downtown Halifax

(September 7, Halifax, NS) - Hopscotch 2011, HRM’s annual celebration of hip-hop culture, will launch tomorrow in downtown Halifax. Hopscotch is full of originality, urban roots and fresh attitudes. This year’s event will run from September 8th to 11th, 2011 and is free to the public.

To kick-off the four-day event, the Hopscotch Urban Arts Festival will be hosting a Live Art Jam on Bedford Row in downtown Halifax. Artists from Halifax, Toronto and France will be painting two 28-foot boats. As part of the Art Jam, HRM will be closing access to Bedford Row between Prince Street and George Street beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 8th and re-opening on Friday, September 9th.

Tomorrow’s launch will also include a digital art piece from Toronto that is debuting in the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia theatre, a choreographed performance by The Woods - Halifax's first professional hip-hop dance troupe, and free food and beverage will be offered.
