Dartmouth Christmas Tree Lighting at Sullivan's Pond this Saturday, Dec. 3

(Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011)- On behalf of the Dartmouth Tree-lighting Organizing Committee, Councillor Gloria McCluskey is inviting residents to come out for the 2011 Annual Dartmouth Christmas Tree Lighting presented by the TD Bank Financial Group.

The tree will be lit up this Saturday at Sullivan's Pond.

Schedule of Events:

4:30 - 6:00 pm - Enjoy a free ride on the Kiwanis Santa Claus Express Train Ride
4:30 - 5:55 pm - Visit with Santa, LED Light Exchange, Free Apple Juice and Cookies (while quantities last)
4:30 pm - Crichton Park School Choir, Scotia Cuties, HRM Fire Union Pipe & Drum Band
5:00 pm - The Razzmatazz Holiday Show presented by The Village Shops at Dartmouth Crossing
5:55 pm - Christmas Tree Lighting
6:00 pm - The BOYNECLARKE Holiday Fireworks over Sullivan's Pond
6:15 pm - Join carollers procession down Ochterloney Street to Chirstkindlmarket Festival

Bring two sets of traditional glass holiday lights to the tree lighting ceremony and have them exchanged for one set of energy efficient LED Holiday lights at the Nova Scotia Power and Efficiency Nova Scotia LED Holiday Light Exchange. Quantities are limited, and based on first come, first served.


There will be volunteers collecting cash donations on-site for Margaret’s House, a local charity kitchen that feeds adults in need in our community.


Please note that Crichton Avenue will be closed from 2:00 pm until 8:30 pm, between Ochterloney Street and Dahlia Street, to accommodate the large number of people expected to attend the event. People are encouraged to dress warmly and to bring their festive spirit.
