Emera Oval to officially open for 2011/2012 Skating Season


(Thursday, Dec. 15) - The much-anticipated permanent skating Oval on the Common is scheduled to open on December 23rd. The public is invited to join Mayor Kelly for the official ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 12 noon on December 23, 2011. After the official opening, weather permitting, the Emera Oval will be open for skating.


When: December 23, 2011 beginning at 12 noon


Where: Emera Oval - Cogswell Street entrance

The Emera Oval is the largest artificial ice surface east of Quebec. A CSA-approved multi-impact helmet is required for children 12 and under and encouraged for all others. Free skate and helmet lending is available on-site.
