HRM’s Annual Spring Weight Restrictions

(Friday, March 2, 2012) - To minimize potential damage to streets and roads, HRM will introduce its annual spring weight restrictions for heavy vehicles on municipally maintained roads in the former County of Halifax areas from March 5 to April 30.

The restrictions are consistent with those of the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR). Details of vehicle restrictions can be found at: http://www.halifax.ca/snow/SpringWeightRestrictions.html.

HRM staff has arranged for enforcement of these restrictions to be carried out by Provincial Weight Enforcement personnel. This approach will provide consistent enforcement on roads throughout HRM. If the roads are stabilized prior to April 30, the restrictions may be lifted earlier.
