HRM’s Commuter Challenge Kick-Off

Friday, April 19, 2013 (Halifax, NS) - The Commuter Challenge is a week-long event during National Environment Week (June 2-8) and is being launched by Clean Nova Scotia, Stepping Up and HRM’s SmartTrip on Earth Day, Monday, April 22. The Challenge is a friendly competition between Canadian cities and workplaces and a celebration of active and sustainable transportation.

The kick-off will welcome HRM Mayor Mike Savage, Dr. Gaynor Watson-Creed, Capital District Health Authority as keynote speaker and outgoing Poet Laureate, Tanya Davis, who will be expressing her poetic thoughts on sustainable commuting.

For the Commuter Challenge, workplaces and participants in HRM and Nova Scotia are asked to make a commitment to giving their car a day off. Learn more at www.commuterchallenge.ca.
