HRM and the Halifax Mooseheads invite residents to
celebrate Mooseheads Day

Monday, May 27, 2013 (Halifax, NS) – Halifax Regional Council invites residents to celebrate the Halifax Mooseheads’ recent Memorial Cup and President Cup wins at a public event to be held in Grand Parade tomorrow, May 28, 12 p.m.

“Last night everyone was a Mooseheads fan as we watched them play for the Memorial Cup, whether they were in Saskatoon, in Grand Parade watching on the big screen, or gathered with family and friends,” said Mayor Savage. “There has been tremendous public support for the Mooseheads throughout the season, bringing our community together as we’ve cheered them on to victory.”

The Halifax Mooseheads will proceed with the Memorial Cup from the Metro Centre down Carmichael Street into Grand Parade beginning at noon. HRM will be closing Argyle Street between Duke and Prince streets, as well as Carmichael Street, to traffic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accommodate this event. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes.

Metro Transit will provide free accessible low floor shuttles (labeled Special) from Mumford Terminal adjacent to the Halifax Shopping Centre, and the Bridge Terminal in Dartmouth, to Grand Parade from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Passengers will be dropped off on Duke Street beside the Metro Centre to proceed to Grand Parade. Shuttles will pick up passengers from the same location on Duke Street from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to return participants to both the Mumford and Dartmouth Bridge terminals.

Free Alderney ferry service will be offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with service increased to 15 minute frequency during this time period.

Members of the 2013 Halifax Mooseheads will be available following the official portion of the event to sign autographs.
