Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency to hold firefighter memorial service
(Thursday, May 30, 2013) - Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency is inviting members of the public to its 2nd Annual Atlantic Canada Firefighter Memorial Service. The event will take place on Sunday, June 2, and will honour all firefighters in Atlantic Canada.
Firefighters depend on support from their communities and this service provides an opportunity for the public and firefighters to join together to honour and show support for the dedication of our first responders.
Firefighters from the Atlantic provinces will assemble at Saunders Park (near the Connaught Avenue and Chebucto Road intersection), and march down Chebucto Road to St. Agnes Church (corner of Chebucto Road and Mumford Road) for the 2 p.m. church service.
Participating in the ceremony will be members of Atlantic Canada’s fire departments, including Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency, Halifax International Airport fire service, Halifax DND and 14 Wing Greenwood.
Motorists are advised there could be some traffic disruptions during this time. Traffic will be reduced to two lanes on Chebucto Road from Connaught Avenue to Mumford Road between 12:15 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The parade will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and three firefighting apparatus will be parked on Chebucto Road in front of St. Agnes Church until 4 p.m. (during the service & reception).
HRM apologizes for any delays this may cause.
