Dispose of Your Household Hazardous Waste at Special Summer Drop Off Depot

Wednesday, June 19, 2013 (Halifax, NS) - HRM reminds residents that the annual Summer Household Hazardous Waste Special Drop-off Depot will take place at Mic Mac Mall Lower Parking Lot on Saturday, June 22, 2013. The mobile depot will operate from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., rain or shine.

Materials that can be accepted at the depot are household special wastes: batteries, leftover liquid paint, leftover corrosive cleaners, pesticides/herbicides, gasoline, fuel oil and used motor oil, solvents and thinners, pharmaceuticals and drugs, aerosol cans containing hazardous substances, BBQ propane tanks, and small propane cylinders (for example, those used for camp stoves and propane torches).

HRM also operates a permanent Household Hazardous Waste Depot at 20 Horseshoe Lake Drive, Bayers Lake Business Park, Halifax. Drop off times are Saturdays between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. as noted in the schedule posted on the HRM website at: http://www.halifax.ca/recycle/hhw.html.

The depot is only open to residents of HRM. Business waste is not permitted.
