Give away weekend opportunity for spring cleaners and treasure hunters

Wednesday, June 5th, 2013 (Halifax, NS) – It’s that time of year again, time to open up the windows, start the spring cleaning and clear out the clutter. While you’re reducing clutter, why not give someone a chance to reuse the things you no longer need by taking part in HRM’s Curbside Give Away Weekend June 8 and 9, 2013.

Just take your unwanted but reusable items or “hidden treasures” to the curb in front of your home on Friday evening. Place a "FREE" sign on the items to ensure there is no confusion. Treasure hunters can remove items with a "FREE" sign but should remember to respect others' property when participating. Residents should remove leftover items from the curb by dusk on Sunday and consider donating unclaimed items to charitable organizations.

Examples of treasures to set out for the Curbside Give Away include: books, CDs and DVDs, furniture and small appliances, sports equipment, toys, tools, and construction materials. For a list of unacceptable items and for more details on the event, please visit: www.halifax.ca/recycle/CGAW.html
