Emera Oval officially opened for 2013/2014 skating season
Monday, December 16, 2013 – The cold weather has ensured that the winter season is officially underway at the Emera Oval, the largest artificial ice surface east of Quebec. Public skates will be held daily as ice and weather conditions allow. Free skate and helmet lending is available on-site, with a valid government issued photo ID.
To stay up to date on the latest information on the Emera Oval, residents can visit skatehrm.ca for public skating hours, special events, condition updates, and to view a calendar of Emera Oval programs. Residents may also call the Emera Oval Information Line at 490-2347 or follow SkateHRM.ca on Facebook and @skateHRM on Twitter for schedule changes.
Events are already planned for New Year’s Eve. From 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. a family friendly event will be held with a live DJ, skating and fireworks. From 9:30 p.m. until midnight, there will be an open skate with a live DJ, skating and fireworks. Visit: http://www.halifax.ca/SkateHRM/SpecialEvents/index.html for details.
Residents ice-skating on the Emera Oval are reminded that a CSA-approved multi-impact helmet is required for children 12 and under and encouraged for all others.
