Upcoming public art programming opportunities
Thursday, August 1, 2013 (Halifax, NS) – HRM is pleased to announce the release of its 2013-2014 Open Projects Temporary Public Art Program and Artist in Residence Initiative.
The Open Projects Program began in 2009 as a means of inviting artists and creative professionals to submit site-specific proposals with the aim of animating public spaces and encouraging civic engagement through the arts. Interested artists of all disciplines are invited to submit proposals for public realm art projects in advance of the September 13, 2013 deadline.
Entering its third year, the Artist in Residence Initiative invites non-profit organizations to submit proposals to host an artist within the context of their organization. Eligible organizations include arts-specific institutions, but the opportunity also extends to non-arts-related non-profit organizations with an interest in engaging the public in a dialogue through the arts. The emphasis of this program is on innovative residency programs that display unique and effective means of providing public access into the world of arts production and exhibition.
Additional program information and applications are available online at www.halifax.ca/culture/Opportunities/index.html.
Application deadline for both programs is September 13, 2013.
