Free Ferry Service on Canada Day

Thursday, June 19, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Metro Transit is pleased to offer free ferry service on all its vessels Tuesday, July 1, to accommodate the thousands of residents and visitors expected to attend Canada Day events being held in downtown Halifax and Dartmouth.

The Woodside ferry will operate every 30 minutes for the entire day, beginning at 6:37 a.m. in Dartmouth. The last trip will leave the Halifax terminal at 10:52 p.m.

The Alderney ferry will operate every 30 minutes starting at 7:30 a.m. Service will increase to every 15 minutes between the hours of 10 a.m. and midnight, and return to 30-minute service from midnight until 2 a.m. The last trip of the evening will leave the Halifax terminal bound for Alderney at 1:45 a.m.

The Sam Roberts Band is headlining this year’s free Canada Day concert at Alderney Landing. Other acts include July Talk, A Belle Game and Halifax’s own, Ben Caplan & The Casual Smokers.
