Free Movie Night at the Halifax Public Gardens

Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas and the Halifax Regional Municipality is celebrating by showing A Christmas Carol this Friday, Dec. 5, at the Halifax Public Gardens.

The show is free, but make sure to bundle up, as the movie is playing outside on a screen set up between Horticulture Hall and the bandstand, near the centre of the Gardens. The movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. and runs about an hour-and-a-half.

Those interested should come early and use the Spring Garden Road gate, behind Horticulture Hall. Seating is limited to the first 500 people. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own snacks and chairs to ensure they get a seat. The benches on site will accommodate up to 400 people.

This event is weather dependent. If rain or snow is in the forecast, a decision will be made around noon on Friday about whether to proceed. People are asked to call 311 ahead of time if they think it might be cancelled.

This is the second free movie night at the Public Gardens. The first was in October to celebrate Halloween, when hundreds of people came out to watch Ghostbusters.

These events are part of the Gardens’ ongoing efforts to offer fun free activities for visitors of all ages. For more information on the Public Gardens, visit http://www.halifax.ca/publicgardens/.
