HRM Implements Annual Spring Weight Restrictions

Wednesday, March 12, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – To minimize potential damage to streets and roads, the Halifax Regional Municipality will introduce its annual spring weight restrictions for heavy vehicles travelling on municipally maintained roads in the former County of Halifax areas, starting at 12:01 a.m. Monday, March 17.

Those restrictions are expected to remain in place through to May 19, 2014. However, if the roads are stabilized prior to that date, the restrictions may be lifted earlier and HRM will issue a Public Service Announcement.

HRM’s spring weight restrictions are consistent with those of the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR).

HRM has arranged for the restrictions to be enforced by provincial Weight Enforcement personnel. This approach will ensure consistent enforcement on streets and roads throughout HRM.
