Halifax Diverse Hosts Guided Walk at Birch Cove

Friday, July 25, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Halifax Diverse is hosting a free guided walk with two local experts in history and the environment on Wednesday, July 30, at Birch Cove Park in Dartmouth.

A project of Sierra Club Canada Foundation Atlantic Chapter, Halifax Diverse is a nature literacy program that engages people who would like to learn more about the fascinating natural history and environment of some of Halifax's greatest urban wilderness treasures. Guided monthly tours by expert naturalists provide a valuable opportunity to experience and learn about the many parks in the Halifax region.

The group has chosen Birch Cove for this month’s walk because it recently received its second Blue Flag designation, an internationally recognized and respected eco-certification for beaches and marinas. Birch Cove remains the only Nova Scotia beach to ever receive this prestigious honour.

Residents and visitors are welcome to attend this free event. The walk begins at 6:30 p.m., rain or shine, and participants are asked to meet in the parking lot beside the beach.
