Impacts to bus and ferry services, starting May 20
Friday, May 16, 2014 (Halifax, NS) Halifax Regional Municipality and Metro Transit would like to advise residents that there are some temporary changes to the new 15 minute rush hour ferry service that was scheduled to begin at the Woodside Ferry terminal starting on May 20, 2014. Service on the Woodside Ferry will be every 30 minutes until further notice. Changes to the schedule are being delayed as Metro Transit’s new ferry won’t be in operation for a few more weeks, due to the requirement to complete staff training. However the extended mid-day and evening service on the Woodside Ferry until 9 p.m. will proceed as planned.
The new bus service to Woodside Ferry Terminal on routes 78 and 79 will also continue. However passengers on route 78 will have connection times to and from the Woodside ferry of 20-25 minutes until the ferry service starts running on the 15 minute schedule.
Metro Transit is offering free bus to those passengers travelling on the 78 in recognition of the impact. For those passengers on Route 78 who have purchased a transit pass, Metro Transit will exchange it for a June transit pass. Details will be on line by Thursday, May 22. Passengers will have to show proof that they live in the area the buses service.
Passengers are advised to check the Woodside Ferry terminal schedules and bus schedules before making a trip. Schedules can be found here:http://www.halifax.ca/metrotransit/Schedules/WoodsideFerryExpansion.html
The Alderney ferry route will continue to run on its regular schedule.
HRM and Metro Transit apologize in advance for any inconvenience this has caused and will notify residents when the Woodside Ferry begins 15 minute rush hour service.
