Metro Transit Expands Woodside Ferry Service

Friday, June 6, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality and Metro Transit are pleased to advise residents that 15-minute ferry service during peak hours will begin at the Woodside ferry terminal starting on Monday, June 9.

In an effort to provide better service for commuters travelling between Dartmouth and Halifax, Metro Transit expanded its weekday ferry service at the Woodside terminal, the first addition to ferry service in almost 30 years.

With the new Christopher Stannix vessel, ferries will now depart from the Woodside terminal every 15 minutes during peak hours (6:30-9:30 a.m. and 2:30-6 p.m.), Monday through Friday. Ferries will depart every half an hour during off-peak hours.

In addition, Metro Transit has added two new urban express routes (Route 78 and 79), originating from Mount Edward Road and Cole Harbour, respectively. These and other routes that currently service the Woodside terminal have schedules that align with the ferry schedule, ensuring passengers enjoy a more comfortable and reliable commute.

Passengers are advised to check the Woodside ferry schedules and bus schedules for exact departure times before making a trip.
