Metro Transit Bus Service Will Not Resume Until Thursday, March 27
Wednesday, March 26, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Based on the ongoing severe weather and road conditions, Metro Transit bus service will not resume in the Halifax Regional Municipality until Thursday, March 27.
The safety of passengers, staff and the traveling public is Metro Transit’s number one priority. Currently, high winds remain in the forecast this afternoon and overnight, which will create blowing snow, whiteout conditions and poor visibility. Fewer vehicles on the road, including buses, will also help support Municipal Operation’s ongoing snow-clearing efforts.
Ferry service will continue on its regular schedule until further notice.
Metro Transit began ramping down bus service starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday and all conventional buses were off the roads by approximately 1 p.m. Access-A-Bus service continues for registered patrons with critical care requirements, such as dialysis.
Metro Transit anticipates bus service will resume in the morning, barring any significant challenges due to weather.
Residents can get updates on service on Metro Transit’s website at http://www.halifax.ca/metrotransit/Schedules/index.asp, via @hfxtransit and @hfxgov on Twitter and through Public Service Announcements posted at http://www.halifax.ca/mediaroom/pressrelease/releases.html.
HRM and Metro Transit want to thank residents for their ongoing understanding and cooperation throughout the storm.
