Powder Mill Lake Bridge Replacement
Wednesday, June 18, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that beginning on Monday, June 23, and continuing until Sunday, Aug. 31, crews will be doing work on Rocky Lake Drive to replace the aging Powder Mill Lake Bridge.
Lane drops and stop-and-go traffic will be in place while this work is going on. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.
In order to install the new infrastructure, the bridge will need to be closed to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists for a period of six weeks. A detour will be in place during that time.
The start date for that stage of the project is still tentative. Residents will be notified through a Public Service Announcement about a week before that extended closure will begin. There will also be electronic traffic signage on Rocky Lake Drive at Cobequid Road and Duke Street, posting updates on the work.
The municipality recognizes that Rocky Lake Drive is a busy stretch and a popular route for cyclists, and apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause. These upgrades are necessary to ensure a safe and smooth trip for all residents.
