Road Closures – Canada Day Celebrations
Friday, June 27, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Cogswell Street between Robie Street and North Park Street will be closed Tuesday, July 1, for the Canada Day Maple Lodge Farms Family Fun-Fest on the Halifax Commons.
The closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking restrictions will be in effect even earlier to prohibit people from parking in the area.
Parking restrictions will also be in place on Ahern Avenue and Rainnie Drive on July 1, to permit the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Parade to take place around Citadel Hill. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. but parking restrictions will be in place in advance of the event and lifted at the end of the parade.
No Parking signs in the affected areas will be enforced and vehicles in violation will be towed at the owner’s expense.
To avoid running into parking problems, residents are encouraged to park in Dartmouth and take the ferry to Halifax, if possible.
Metro Transit is offering free ferry service from all its terminals on Canada Day. In lieu of a fare, Metro Transit is asking passengers to support FEED NOVA SCOTIA by bringing a non-perishable food item or cash donation. FEED NOVA SCOTIA staff and volunteers will be at the Woodside, Alderney and Halifax ferry terminals to collect any donations.
