Rolling Closures on Halifax Common Active Transportation Trail
Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that there will be rolling closures over the next week as crews work on the active transportation trail on the Halifax Common, near the site of the new roundabout.
These closures will affect the trail along North Park Street, near the intersection with Cunard Street. Pedestrians are asked to watch for posted signage indicating when the trail is closed, as dates, times and specific locations will depend on the progress of the work.
The municipality appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation, and apologizes for any inconvenience these closures and the ongoing construction may cause.
As the North Park Street area remains an active construction site, motorists are reminded to heed posted speed limits and other construction zone signage, and to keep an eye out for construction workers. Pedestrians and cycles should use caution when travelling through the area and are encouraged to use alternative routes during this stage of the work.
This is a two-year project, beginning with construction of the roundabout at Cunard Street, which is expected to open later this fall. The second roundabout at the intersection of North Park, Cogswell, Rainnie, Trollope and Ahern streets will be built in 2015.
