Traffic & Parking Advisory - We Day 2014
Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that there will be heavy traffic and limited street parking in downtown Halifax on Friday morning, as more than 150 school buses will be dropping off students taking part in We Day 2014.
Special Event signs went up today along Rainnie Drive and Albemarle Street and the parking metres will be bagged Friday to reserve spots for the school buses. Motorists may still park there today and tonight, as parking restrictions will be in effect on Friday only. Any vehicles in violation tomorrow will be ticketed and towed.
Motorists headed downtown are advised to leave a bit early on their morning commute and to avoid the streets surrounding the Scotiabank Centre, if at all possible. The buses will be arriving between 8 and 9:30 a.m., and departing mid-afternoon, between 2 and 3:30 p.m.
We Day is a growing movement encouraging young people to come together to make the world a better place. The annual series of stadium-sized events features world-renowned speakers and performers. For more information, please visit http://www.weday.com/we-day-events/we-day-cities/atlantic-canada/.
