Weight Restrictions - Rosley Road Bridge

Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality would like to advise residents that starting today, Nov. 17, there will be weight restrictions on the Rosley Road Bridge, near the civic address 155 Rosley Rd., in Beaver Bank.

Municipal staff recently conducted a detailed bridge inspection and determined that the following weight restrictions should be in place until a longer term solution is identified:

SINGLE AXLE: 6 tonnes
TANDEM AXLE: 11 tonnes
TRIDEM AXLE: 15 tonnes

These restrictions will not affect the delivery of fire services or snow removal in the Rosley Road area. However, contractors with Solid Waste Resources anticipate they will need to use a smaller vehicle for the pickup of garbage, organics and recyclables. Residents will receive more information on this issue in the near future.

In the meantime, municipal staff in Fire Services, Solid Waste Resources, Road Maintenance and Winter Works will continue to work together to ensure the reliable delivery of services for residents in the Rosley Road area.

The municipality apologizes for any inconvenience these restrictions may cause; however, they are necessary for public safety.

If residents have questions regarding this issue, they are encouraged to contact staff at 902-490-6900 or call the Citizen Contact Centre at 311.
