Firefighter training exercises

Monday, June 2, 2014 (Halifax, NS) - Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency will be conducting firefighting training exercises throughout the entire month of June at the Gordon Bell building (9 Taranaki Dr.) in Cole Harbour. Most training exercises will be conducted on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. There may be some training events on evenings and weekends.

The purpose of these exercises is to allow fire crews to practise the skills they need for search and fire attack in a large commercial building.

Residents will observe numerous fire trucks and firefighters in and around this former high school building. They may also see smoke coming from inside the building.

The radio transmissions associated with these exercises won’t be heard over radio scanners and should not interfere with normal fire operations.
