New free parking option during holiday season for Spring Garden Road shoppers

Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is pleased to announce parking just got a whole lot easier to find during the holiday season in the Spring Garden Road shopping district.

It’s anticipated there will be increased pressures on parking availability in the Spring Garden Road area over the coming weeks as the new Halifax Central Library opens and shopping tends to peak.

With that increased demand on parking the Municipality has decided to make the open-air lot on Queen Street behind the new Halifax Central Library free for anyone looking for a spot to park during the holiday season.

Now that the much-anticipated library is preparing to open its doors and construction crews are tearing down and moving on, the municipality saw the vacant lot behind the building as a perfect fit for Spring Garden Road customers.

The municipality will ensure the lot remains plowed through the busy shopping season so motorists are able to come and go as they please.
