Urban forest street tree pruning – Agricola Street
Monday, March 17, 2014 (Halifax, NS) - As part of the implementation of HRM’s recently adopted Urban Forest Master Plan, street tree pruning on Agricola Street between Duffus and Young streets will begin today (Monday, March 17) and run through Thursday, March 20.
This is the last week of HRM’s winter tree pruning program. Over the past three months several hundred trees have been trimmed and a large number of dead limbs have been removed that could have caused serious harm if left unattended. This pruning project is also completely “green”, with all the branches being further processed through a woodchipper to then be redistributed this spring along HRM paths and trails.
Agricola Street will be open to traffic throughout the week but there will be temporary lane closures and parking restrictions while pruning takes place. Pedestrians may also experience some inconvenience due to temporary sidewalk closures.
Motorists are asked to reduce speed when passing through the work area. Some temporary delays may occur and drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes. HRM apologizes in advance for any inconvenience these delays may cause.
